Some self Storage companies will not accept your insurance !

We hear this sometimes from potential customers as a number of self storage companies will not allow their customers to purchase any other insurance policy apart from their own. They will use some nebulous excuse but, in essence, they are going against the rules and regulations of the Financial Conduct Authority.

Consumer Rights Act changes

The Consumer Rights Act which came into force last year affords far more protection to the consumer than ever before. No longer can a self storage provider apply excess hidden charges or should they damage or lose your goods simply walk away from their responsibility as a  'Bailee' for reward'

 

What the IPT increase means for customers

In the Autumn Statement, Philip Hammond stated Insurance Premium Tax (IPT) would be increased from 10% to 12% with effect from 1st June, 2017. This is the third IPT increase in two years.
